Yesterday I had a very positive meeting with David McCullough, the Chief Executive of The Abbeyfield Society to discuss my concerns regarding the potential closure of Tannerswood in Abbots Langley.
I am delighted that the notice of closure has now been withdrawn, following my letters to management on 24th and 28th January 2019.
It has been agreed that The Abbeyfield Society will take over operational management of the property on an interim basis, and I am very encouraged as they do genuinely seem to be listening to the concerns of residents.
The Abbeyfield Society have commissioned a new survey by TAS building contractors who will assess the building soon. Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service will also look at the property from a safety point of view, which I welcome.
After I raised concerns about the lack of notice given to residents and their families, I am pleased that they have now agreed to an extensive consultation process, which will take place over a three month period.
It was very clear to me in the meeting that the Trustees do regret their course of action, and that The Abbeyfield Society are more than willing to engage with the residents moving forward.”
