On 15 December 2017, Richard Harrington MP visited St Michael Catholic High School’s to formally reopen the astroturf facility, which was resurfaced over the Summer holidays. The MP for Watford was joined by Year 7 students as he cut the ribbon. Headteacher Mr Conway said, “We are delighted to welcome Richard Harrington MP back to St Michael’s to open our astroturf pitch. This is a fantastic facility which is enjoyed and used by all our students.”
Richard Harrington MP said, “It was a pleasure to officially open the brand new astroturf at St Michael’s School. This is a very impressive new facility and it was great to see the enthusiasm from the students for their pitch.”
The facility is used for a variety of sports within school including hockey and football. The school also lets the pitch in the evenings and weekends to local football and hockey teams.
