Watford Workshop, the Charity based in Century Retail Park, behind Furniture Village, announces that Richard Harrington MP has agreed to become its first Patron.
Established for 50 years, Watford Workshop is a registered charity that provides Work Experience, Skills Training and Employment for disabled people, helping them to achieve greater independence, become more integrated into the community and where possible move them on to mainstream employment.
As a means to keeping disabled and disadvantaged people in employment and training, Watford Workshop delivers comprehensive, high quality and competitively priced services to their commercial customers.
Gordon Sellers, Chairman of Watford Workshop says: “We currently receive public sector funding to supplement the income that we earn from our customers, but we want to expand the range of training that we provide for disabled people. Being conscious of the pressures on public sector funding, we have therefore embarked on a major campaign to raise funds from beyond the public sector and, as one of the steps, have been seeking high profile Patrons to give weight to our cause. We are delighted to have Richard as our first Patron and we hope to announce others soon.”
Richard Harrington, MP for Watford says: “I am so proud to have become Watford Workshop’s first Patron, it is an absolute honour. Having been to the Workshop so many times I am consistently impressed by, and indeed in awe of, the attitude of everyone here – both those in employment and the staff and volunteers. They have a great team who offer real independence and support to all those who attend, and I would recommend them to any businesses who have needs from labelling to packing to electrical assembly – you will not be disappointed!”
