Early next year Richard will be writing to every business in Watford, of all sizes, outlining the benefits of hiring apprentices, inviting them to a business reception to find out more, and work with them to set up Apprenticeships within their companies.
Later in the year he will be holding a Fair allowing companies that have signed up, to offer their Apprenticeships to young people in Watford, an opportunity for young people to receive training and learn skills whilst in paid employment.
Richard said:
“I am pleased to be working with West Herts College and the National Apprenticeship Services with sponserhsip from Watford based Camelot on this initiative for Watford.
“I strongly believe that Apprenticeships are an important way of cutting youth unemployment and giving young people the chance to find jobs that allow training on the job. I want young people to start looking at apprenticeships as a positive alternative to other entry level jobs or further education.
“There are also a great number of benefits to employers for hiring apprentices, however many businesses don’t really know enough about modern apprenticeships. The Government has created many great schemes for companies and benefits to employers who hire an apprentice. I want to run this initiative to help businesses find out more and work with them to create opportunities for local young people.
“I am very proud by all we achieved through the Jobs Fair but I don’t want to end there. I want to use my role as MP to bring together companies and young people, to provide practical action in creating many more successful apprenticeships in Watford.”
