To finish off National Apprenticeship Week, on Friday 10th March, Richard Harrington MP spoke about the benefits of apprenticeships to a group of students who were taking part in an 'Apprenticeship Challenge'. First Rung, an apprenticeship provider, teamed up with JSA Services to give young people the chance to see how an apprenticeship in Business Administration can open doors to a successful career within administration, accountancy, payroll and customer operations.
As part of the Apprenticeship Challenge, students got a behind the scenes look at how a professional accountancy firm provides payroll to over 50,000 clients. They were also given the chance to speak to JSA apprentices and find out more about their experience and their career prospects.
Local MP, Richard Harrington also presented an award to JSA for being 'First Ring's Apprenticeship Employer of the Year'.
Richard then visited Watford Community Housing Trust to speak to their new apprentices who work in a range of different fields including HR, ICT and Engineering.
Speaking about National Apprenticeship Week, Richard said: “I really believe that becoming an apprentice is a great route into a first job or to change career. You can get paid whilst you learn, which means having no student loan and gaining real-life experience. National Apprenticeship Week is just a way of promoting that and also making people aware of the different kinds of apprenticeships that are out there. ”
