In a Parliamentary debate he held yesterday Watford MP Richard Harrington praised the work of the Watford Organisations that play a part in boosting the number of self- employed people.
In the debate which examined the ways in which the Government can help boost self employment Richard Harrington singled out the work of Hertfordshire Young Enterprise and Watford based WENTA as good examples of practical steps in providing young people with the experience, advice and support they need to create and grow businesses.
Following the debate Richard met with Sir Richard Branson as part of Virgin’s Youth Investment Fund that Richard is championing. The initiative is calling on the Government to create a fund to provide access to finance for young people looking to set up a business. Richard is working with other MPs to ask the Government to consider this initiative that promises to change the lives of thousands of young people and create a new generation of young entrepreneurs.
Richard said
“ I have been continually impressed with the work of Young Enterprise and WENTA, both organisations I know well. They work tirelessly to help people interested in business turn this desire into reality.
“Self- employment and business creation will be crucial in stimulating the economy locally and nationally. In Parliament we have discussed at length what the Government can do to help, and I want Watford to be at the centre of this.
“I was delighted to give my backing to the Youth Investment Fund proposed by Sir Richard Branson and I will be looking carefully at how it can help young people in Watford.”
