On Monday 19th March 2018, Richard Harrington MP had the pleasure of welcoming a young Amazonian man to Parliament.
Richard gave him a tour of the House of Commons and House of Lords, and had tea with him, and his constituent, Sharon Gaffney from Pump House Theatre.
The Watford MP said:
“This week I welcomed Javier, a Kichwa Indian who lives in the Amazon, to Parliament! This was through Pump House Youth Theatre, who are based in Watford. Pump House are putting on a production (opening night was last night!) about a family who travelled to the Amazon. This tells the true story of a Watford family's experience! The family thought the best way for people to understand about the situation is to hear this first hand from a Kichwa Indian, and so they raised enough money to fly him over to Watford, and take part in the production.
Whilst here, Javier has visited local businesses, our town hall and the Houses of Parliament. I had a very interesting morning with him and learnt a lot about life in the Amazon.”
