Watford MP, Richard Harrington, joined the Community Health Day yesterday (Sunday 13th), run by Watford’s Ratala Welfare Organisation, to speak about local Health matters.
The event was organised to provide health and other advice to the South Asian Community in Watford, in particular on diabetes as South Asian people are predominantly more likely to develop diabetes than the white European population.
As well as speaking about the Watford Health Campus and recent Government changes on the NHS, Richard Harrington also met with attendees on an individual basis to talk about personal issues such as housing and benefits.
Richard said:
“ I was pleased to be part of this important community event, which went a long way in raising awareness of diabetes and the simple steps that can be taken to decrease chances of developing it. All those there were very grateful to the Doctors that had given up their time to give advice and take people’s blood pressures.
“After several recent developments on local Health matters it was a good chance to update people on the changes that will affect them.”
