VClean Life, the UK’s first entirely 100% green-cleaning facility launched in Watford this month with an event attended by the Local MP.
On 7th September, Richard Harrington MP visited the Multi-million pound facility on Thomas Sawyer Way. It’s the first of its kind and aims to make old-fashioned and “dirty” dry cleaning obsolete, by using state-of-the-art green technology where the waste product of water is nearly pure enough to drink
VClean Life is 100% green-cleaning facility and began operations on 10th September in Watford, marking the dry-cleaning industry’s shift to a future without perchloroethylene (PERC).
This is the first major step in an industry-wide shift towards replacing the most commonly used dry-cleaning solvent, perchloroethylene (PERC), that is known to cause cancer, neurological disorder, kidney and liver damage and is so toxic, it must be buried in containers in waste sites across the county.
The 11500 square foot facility will start by serving over 50 new VDrop green-cleaning vending machines that will begin to appear over London and the South East from September onwards in office buildings. The “drop-and-go” style vending machines enable office workers to simply drop-off their laundry and pick up their clean clothes in 24 hours, at a cost of just £3 per garment.
Richard Harrington, Member of Parliament for Watford and former business owner, welcomed the move towards green cleaning and said “I was delighted to be invited to celebrate the launch of VClean Life, who are revolutionising the dry cleaning industry from Watford!
I think it’s really important that we all do our bit to protect the environment for future generations, and VClean Life’s new technology allows us to do that but at an affordable cost.
It’s also great that exciting companies like this are starting out in our area, and I’ve no doubt that VClean will be very successful here.”
VClean Life was founded by Nick Harris, who comments, “Over the many years that we've been in the dry cleaning industry, we realised that convenience and low pricing were critical to business success, but that was at the expense of the environment. This had to change. We knew that greener options were available so we decided to bring genuine green cleaning to the masses.
“Not only is VClean Life able to clean ecologically using state-of-the-art technology, with the creation of the VDrop machines, we are able to offer 24 hour convenience at a fraction of the price of the high street and laundry delivery services,” he continues.
