Watford MP Richard Harrington has welcomed the Government’s decision to provide the necessary funding to build the vital Health Campus Road.
The road will be an important part of the new Health Campus and link it to the Croxley Rail Link Development, funding for which was agreed by the Government in December.
Costing £7.5 million the road will be crucial in improving access for emergency vehicles travelling to the Hospital from across Watford, Hemel Hempstead, St Albans and Rickmansworth. It will also improve access for 500,000 patients and staff of the Hospital and ease traffic congestion in the area.
Securing the finance for the road is an important step in creating the Health Campus and securing investment for the project.
“ This is the second time in as many months that this Coalition Government has committed to investing in the future of Watford, to secure the infrastructure projects vital to the development of the town.
“ I have always been a strong supporter of the NHS and never underestimate the extent to which people depend on this service. The building of this road will mean a bigger and better NHS for Watford residents.
“ I have been lobbying the Department of Health on this matter, and am delighted that they have listened to me and the needs of my constituents. This is the proof that this Government are committed to the NHS and healthcare in Watford.”
