Watford MP Richard Harrington has welcomed today’s announcement that West Herts NHS Trust will not be introducing car parking charges across Watford area Hospitals.
Ever since these proposed changes came to the attention of Richard Harrington he has been fighting hard to ensure these charges were not introduced. During recent meetings with Trust Chiefs, dropping these charges has been the number one item on Richard’s agenda and he has expressed his pleasure that they have listened to the arguments put forward by him and constituents.
Richard has thanked everyone that submitted their concerns to the consultation and Richard has pledged to continue to work with associated groups to make sure that disabled people recieve the support that they need at the Hospital as well as to make sure that car parking charges at Watford General are as fair as possible.
Richard said:
“ I welcome the decision taken by West Herts NHS Trust to not bring in proposed new parking charges for blue badge holders. Ever since these proposals came to my attention I have been pushing hard for the Trust to review these proposals and this was top of my list of issues to discuss with Trust chiefs when I have met with them in recent months and I am pleased that the Trust have listened to these views and those of my constituents.
“Today’s decision will be welcomed by those who need to access Watford General as well Disability Groups across Watford with whom I have been working with to reject these proposed changes.
“ It was the right decision for the Trust to not introduce parking charges for the blue badge holders that rely on Watford General and other Hospitals. I am only disappointed that this idea was even considered in the first place.”
