Over 100 new apprenticeships for young people are on the way. After a hugely successful launch of the Watford Apprenticeship Programme, organised by Richard Harrington MP, companies across Watford have signed up to help young people into work.
Richard Harrington has started 2012 with the Watford Apprenticeship Programme. This is all about showing businesses how easy and cost effective it is to employ apprentices. As well as being great for businesses, apprenticeships provide much needed skills and training for young people.
In February Richard hosted the first WAP Business Reception where 150 firms attended and met with apprenticeship experts to talk about setting up positions in their companies. Many have already signed up to develop placements.
Richard would like to thank the National Apprenticeship Scheme, West Herts College, Youth Connexions and sponsors Camelot for their work on the project.
Richard said “Apprenticeships provide fantastic on-the-job training for young people and bring real benefits to employers too. I’m delighted that we have over 100 new apprenticeships on the way and I will continue to work with local businesses to get even more!”
